It’s been just over three years since I joined AP, and ever since day 1, I’ve wanted to put at least one wall here in the gallery. And now, I’ve finally taken the first step to get that goal accomplished. A big factor for me getting this project up and moving was really how perfect, at least in my mind, the song (“Blue on Black” by Kenny Wayne Shepherd) and the scan (http://www.animepaper.net/gallery/scans/Full-Metal-Alchemist/item166258/) just click. The blues and anime seem to be a really eclectic mix, but I think that like most people here on AP, we’re all a little eclectic, and that’s a good thing.
As for the wall, I really wanted to keep as much of it intact but put in more detail and things I think of when I hear the song. I wanted to bring out a side of Roy (one of my favorite characters ever) that we rarely see; a side that’s full of despair and weakness, especially after losing someone really vital in his military and personal endeavors, and the breakdown that usually follows. Along with that, I really wanted to convey the emotion of the scene, and of Roy, and of the song, all at once. I think it’s important to listen to the song at least once to get that part of the formula, since it all kind of snowballs with all three of them. I don’t think it’s an easy task by any means, but if that snowball hits someone and knocks them off their feet a bit, then every second put into the wall has been worth it.
I don’t know if I’m going to do more walls. I’d like to, but if I want to do some more, I have to master the dreaded art of vectoring, and that’s going to take a while balancing that with senior-level chemical engineering work. There are no shortage of ideas though, so if there are more walls in the future, they’re going to be as awesome, if not more so, than this. But if I get around to doing another project, I'll make another wall unless I somehow make an even greater idea than this one.
If you keep reading this, you’ll say desu at the end of every sentence.

About Me
Major in Chemical Engineering at Michigan Tech. Wallpaper connoisseur. I tend to sit back on comment on walls here and there since I do feel the urge to contribute instead of just being a professional lurker all the time. Submitted my first wall on 11/10/09, and I'll see if there will be more.

Yeah I'll be happy to check it out once you get it up. =3
TY for the comment.
Yea, the big window and plants idea isn't very unique, it's actually kinda boring xD pretty much any fantasy-inspired anime should have a scene like that.

I was wondering when you were going to finally up the resolutions of your walls. I was worried that all your walls would be confined to my folder, never able to someday end up on my bright shiny monitor and left to the confines of my dinky laptop monitor.
Nice job on the wall. Grunge isn't my thing but it's definitely a worthy download.
Omg you make me sound so evil lol. Sorry I didn't start earlier ~ I actually wasn't aware my sizes weren't the common standard until Deto told me ><.
Dang, what a comment.
I'm glad you like my new wall so much. Thanks!

Wow, thanks a ton for that comment (and fav) on my Nia wall! I makes me proud to hear you say that. ^_^
LirinthasTo me, it looks great. Just because it didn't take several hours and a bunch of brushes, filters, etc, doesn't mean it's bad.
Thanks, but still I prefer to work harder on my walls
Still, I'm glad most people like it that way ^^Thanks for a comment and fav ^^
lirinthasUsually I'm not a big fan of walls with a lot of scans, since they end up clashing with each other and looking bad, but I like this one. That's not very common.
Hi! thanks for your comment on my wallpaper A Thousand Miles
I'm glad you liked it
see ya!

Thanks for the comment on my wallpaper. If you'd like I can provide a textureless version too ^^;.
Thanks for your comment and fav on my Dragonaut wallpaper! More thanks for those compliments! I really appreciate it! I almost always do vector wallpapers because its my favourite style + you don't need to clean scans.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
